A beautiful corner in the city of Leiden in the Netherlands.

Normally I wouldn't really place a cityscape in a Natuer Photographer's forum. But with the snow that suddenly came over the Netherlands last week (not so much has fallen since 1979!), it seemed to me that nature still has power over even life in the city. The snow not only completely changed the looks of the city, but also made life quite a bit more difficult because of the slippery roads and other 'inconveniences' that snow brings.

I always loved those images on the covers of some of Dickens' books. The ones that have this atmosphere of timelesness and mistery. I try to find scenes that look like it at times, and I think I might have succeeded a bit in this case. The star-effect (due to small aperture, not to filter!) is actually too strong for my own liking, but still I rather like this image as a whole. All critique is welcome!

Wonderful Arthur. It very much evokes the mood of a book in me. I can imagine countless characters passing behind those windows. It seems like it could be any time, modern or past.

I like the timelessness of this scene, and I don't think the star effect is too much. In an obviously cold scene, it adds warmth. I love how the yellow light reflects on the snow. Fantastic shot. :toast:

I do like this very much - the mood it sets seems just right, and I do like the starbursts. Well done!

I don't know how I missed this one before....I love it! The image does give one the feeling of a Dicken's story and just a hint of mystery. Well done, Arthur! :toast:
