No, that is not really this barn owl's name. It was at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Park. I really liked the soft subtle colors and details of the feathers and the pensive look in it's eye. Canon 5D3, f11, 1/320 sec, iso 320, -1 EV, 100-400 ISL at 400 mm, HH, Slight crop from top and bottom. Thanks for your thoughts.

Barn owls are cute little mousers. I like the head detail and wish that there was a little more DOF to include those speckled head feathers.  However, more DOF would compromise the OOF BG.  Otherwise, a nice portrait of one of my favorite owls......................Jim

Nice portrait.  Wish for a little more detail in the dark eye, but I have the same problem with barn owls,  DOF looks OK.

Very nice, Ed.  I have never had an owl of any kind to pose for me yet!  I agree with David about the light around the eye.  Maybe you could just open up the shadows there.  It is a wonderful portrait of this beautiful owl.

A good owl portrait, Ed.  The blown highlights on the nose feathers is a little distracting but otherwise very nice.
