Teton Peeking

This is another shot from my trip last year backpacking along the Teton Crest Trail. As you near the Tetons, you drop down into the Alaska Basin and the mountains disappear. As you climb out of the basin over Hurricane Pass, the top of the Grand Teton starts to peek out, which I found to be a very cool experience.

I’d like to hear your thoughts about how this works solely as a photo, without connecting it to the experience that I had hiking there. Either way, I still love it and have a print of it at home!

I think your experience may bring the image to another level for you, but interesting as is.  Lots of mystery by just seeing the top poking out.  Lots of FG which doesn't have as much of a pull for me in this case.  Does give an expansive feel.  I might have tried a vertical shot using, moving to the left the near flowers as a FG element and the peaks behind, using more of a zoom perhaps.  A fine sky.

I think Harry's take on this image is right on. It's an interesting image with the mountain poking out of the ground, and I like the yellow flowers contrasted with the nice blue sky. I can see why this image would have meaning for you based on your backpacking experience.

Well last summer I was enamored with the beauty of this special place.  I like this as is Craig.  The blue and golden colors always work for me.

I have been to Alaska Basin a few times, and the beauty of the place will always remain in my memory.  The looming Grand Teton is  certainly more ominous in person, and it's  hard to bring that grandeur into an image.  I do think this is a very good attempt at doing just that.  I like it, the large view is very nice and brings back good memories.
