Chipping Sparrow
by Dennis Plank
I added a very small water feature in front of my permanent blind about a week ago and since we had hazy skies yesterday to mellow out the light, I spent a good deal of time in the blind. The blind is situated in a small group of Douglas fir trees, so it gets a slightly different mix of visitors from our main water feature which is pretty much in the open. This Chipping Sparrow popped up onto a perch at the edge after bathing. I do wish I'd had more shutter speed to stop the wing, but I really liked the head turn and pose so I decided to post it anyhow.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, tripod with ballhead and Wimberley Sidekick, f/8, 1/400, iso 1250, manual exposure. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to 12.7 MP before resizing. Taken at 3:41 pm on June 7th.

Well done . . .
