Purple Finch, Female

To provide a drip into my new pondlet, I placed an old branch across the pond and drilled a hole through it for a 1/4 plant watering drip tube so it would drop the water on the little stub the finch is drinking from.  I've since shortened the stub and made the break less conspicuous.  I've gotten other shots with the water drop more conspicuous, but I liked the eye contact in this one.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 516 mm, Tripod with ball head and Wimberley Sidekick, f/8, 1/1600, iso 1250, manual exposure.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped from a horizontal original to a 9.8 MP 6x7 vertical.  Taken June 7th at 10:28 am under hazy skies.

Your comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

A different pose, but it works given your explanation.  Nice detail and background.
