Scottish Highlands Cows

These cattle were bred to withstand the harsh winters of northern Scotland with one outcome being their beautiful shaggy coats. As it turns out, they are also quite docile. One followed me around the pasture and tried to lick me. Best guess is that it was looking for salt. Taken with an Olympus E-M1 and 12-40 lens at 1/160, f/2.8 and ISO 200. Richard

Love this! Great view of the bull and horns, nice placement of the other bull, and lovely BG with the castle-like fsrm in the BG.
Beautiful!  devil

These also do well the in mountains of Colorado, for obvious reasons.  This is a really nice composition with the manor house in the background.  It shouts Scotland.

Very nice image.  Could be a travel poster for Scotland.  Perhaps better balanced if you captured any without the background bull?

This is a good image and amusing too with that shaggy hairdo and crooked horn.  Interesting story as well.

Whoa, they may be docile but the broken horn fooled me.  Nice composition, DOF and warm light.

They sure don't look docile!  Brave of you to find out, but it looks like ti was worth it.  Normally in an animal shot, it is all about the eyes, making sure they are in focus, and some catch light if possible, but in this image, it is perfect not having the eyes, because that is just a part of who he is!!!  Well done, Richard!
