WC 791-West. Screech Owl

Canon 1DX, 500mm f4 x 1.4TC, handheld braced on doorjam
f5.6, 1/100, ISO25600

I heard a strange noise in the backyard at 9:45 PM June 8. When I went out, it was this juvenile Western Screech Owl, perched on the top of our bird feeder pole, begging for food. Photographed with nothing but the porch light. with anxious parents flying through.

Full frame. Noise reduction to background; selective sharpening to bird.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Excellent image, Jim. Love the light in the eyes and the pose. As Dennis commented, amazing image quality given the techs.

What a great experience and a fine shot to help describe the event, Jim.  Those eyes are awesome in the way the pop out of the image.

Outstanding.  Maybe, just maybe the light area lower left frame too bright.

Jim, this is extraordinary clarity with that Iso setting and handheld. Love the story line and the photo is just amazing.

Impressive eyes!  You really managed to get nice details considering your lighting conditions.  The image stands up well to such hi iso.
