Rufous Hummingbird

I finally got a short session with some of our Rufous Hummingbirds this morning by staking out a hanging Fuchsia basket my wife bought for me. We cheated a bit and also hung a hummingbird feeder from the same hook.

I liked the way this one puffed out for awhile.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, tripod with ballhead and Sidekick, f/8, 1/3200, iso 800, manual exposure. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped from a horizontal original to a 9 MP 4x5 vertical. The bg is the porch which happened to have decent color at this point, but I need to do something about the screen and white trim, so I'll probably tack up some kind of bg behind the plant for future sessions. Taken at 6:55 am today.

A pleasing photo with fine detail in the bird and I like the light and how the colors all blend nicely together.

This is a pleasing photo. That was a smart idea to put the feeder nearby. Wonderful detail, light and color in this marvelous image.
