Buttercup Blur

Last year I learned that I could use my extension tubes with my telephoto lens (Canon 100-400mm) to allow me to focus a little closer than the lens would normally let me.  I had noticed these flowers along the road as my husband and I would go for rides on our motor scooters.  So, I brought my Canon Mark III camera with that set up (I can't remember now but I think it was the 21mm extension tube).  I had this vision in mind at the time, that I wanted to blur the flowers in front and out of focus behind, and leaving one flower sharp.  Comments and critiques are welcome.

This is lovely, and I like very much the blur with the one flower in focus. I might consider a crop from the bottom, just above the bottom-most blurred flower. And I would also consider cloning out the dark spot just above the main flower. But even without these suggestions, this is very nicely done.

I like this, Shirley.  It's difficult in this kind of shot to get an entire blossom sharp ans still have the nice blur in the rest of the image.  Well done.

Good cram. I like this as is, except for the dark spot Kathy mentions.

The large image really shows this off well Shirley. Great focus on the lone flower and I really like the overall soft yellow color throughout the rest. I can see eliminating or reducing the impact of the lone dark spot above the main event.

Well done, Shirley. A pleasing result with the nice color wash. As Phil notes, we usually call this technique a "cram." Kathy made a copule good suggestions. I agree with her crop suggestion.

Shirley: Really nice cram. Don't have anything to add to the suggestions already offered. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more. >=))>
