As the old saying goes-
"One for sorrow-two for joy"!
This bird was preening after bathing . It must be a full fledged youngster as the parent turned up and fed it. I noticed later the tail was shorter

I like the interactive pose.  Fine detail and the birds stand out well against the background.

Thanks Allen
You don't often get them  this close
(maybe in towns  where they are much tamer)
Somebody once said to me that these birds test the skills of the "big boys" in  bird photography !
I doubt that !! I once had 7 in front of a hide.
Cheers

Excellent capture, John.  So glad that you were able to capture the two of them together.

Well crafted image John.  First, I am a big magpie fan (these look a lot like ours here in the U.S.). Also, I like that you have both birds in perfect focus - great choices with your ISO, aperture, and SS settings.  The poses are very good and the birds do not overlap.  The open beak on the rightmost bird is a real plus in adding interest.  Wonderful natural background.  Blacks and whites look great!

I love the pose of the youngster and the two poses complement one another well, John.  Excellent job on the exposure.  A fine image.

Very nice interaction and a wonderful setting.  Different from what you usually post.  And I like that.

I already left one comment John, but after looking at it some more, I think this could use a fairly substantial contrast boost.  I believe the blacks and whites would still look good while giving it more pop.  Still a wonderful image, either way.

A really nice scene you have captured here, John. I love the begging juvie. A great perch with a very natural background. I do prefer your repost with the bit of additional contrast. A great image!!!!

Thanks both.
It really is heartening when you consider the PP software I use.  I got my free Paint Shop Pro 7 off a Photo magazine and have used nothing else since..
I was even told on another forum to use Photoshop  because people   could n,t work out what I was doing !! Photography seems like all processing these days.
Cheers
