Hard Worker
by Shirley Freeman
This bee was so hard at gathering the pollen that he could care less that I was in his space. Canon Mark II, Canon 100mm L lens with KX-800 twin flash with DIY diffuser, handheld. Settings 1/250, f16, ISO 400. Cropped to 78%. Used LR for basic highlights/shadows, etc., and Topaz Detail for selective sharpening.

5 commentsThe bumble and flowers are nice and sharp. I wish the BG was a little lighter to make the bee stand out better. But that's for another shot. You did well capturing this one snagging some pollen............................Jim
I would maybe have him a little more central but no big deal

Nicely done at 1/250 and hand held to get this kind of detail, the large version is very impressive. I like the composition and the placement of the Bee in the frame although it feels a bit tight IMO and could use a little more room around the Bee if you have it.
The flash looks a little strong, you might try playing around with reducing your flash exposure compensation. I used to over flash all the time and everyone here at NPN made me realize that the perfect flash is merely fill light and should never look like the image had a flash used.
Well done . . .
