This is from our favorite Southern California Gardens. Canon 5Diii, iso 320, f16, 1/640 sec, -0.7 EV, 100-400 ISL at 400 mm, HH, 90% of original frame. Selective darkening/blurring BG, lightening & contrast on blossom. Thank you for suggested improvments and comments.

This is exquisite! the black bg really makes it pop. Love the details in the petals and the sun shining through as they reach for the light! I wouldn't change a thing!

I love the lighting on the flower, Ed, and the inclusion of the bud is really nice.  I do think toning down the sunlit area on the stem of the bud would be an improvement as that bright line really draws my eye.

Thanks for the suggestion for darkening the stem on the bud Dennis and John. Originally I thought the bright stem gave it some extra dimension and depth. But I like the new toned down version a lot.

Hi Ed,

Original is good, but the repost with the darkened stem is awesome.  Well done--Dennis and John get an assist.devil...............Jim
