Lady Lady

This lioness was totally relaxed, grooming herself and dozing off in our presence. When she took a moment’s break from grooming she looked straight into my lens while a noise from her pride on her right distracted her. I loved the concentrated gaze on the one hand and the confused look on the other.

South Luangwa, Zambia. (if you want to join me there, look here).

Lovely soft tones in this shot, Ingrid.  I suppose that foreground wood(?) is slightly distracting, but overall it's a very pleasing composition and background.

Oh, this is very very pleasing!  I love the low eye level point of view, something we seldom see with these subjects!

What a gaze, huh ! Love the pose and the stare!
Some thoughts about the picture, IMHO if you include more of the oof foreground, as it is not possible to eliminate it, that may help the picture. Secondly, I find the eyes much more saturated than the whole lioness or even whole picture. Increasing the overall saturation may further improve it.

Thanks Jagdeep - I would have totally loved more OOF foreground but I just couldn't get a lower angle so I'll have to live with that cool Not sure if I would want to add saturation to the image, I'll have a look at it.
Thanks all!

She is indeed beautiful Ingrid. You got a wonderful look from her, not threatening or nervous, just relaxed as you have said. Do what you will with the branch, I think it adds a bit of perspective and is not too distracting.

Ingrid: lovely in all respects. You might consider darkening the oof wood in the foreground. Richard
