Burnet Moths
f you want to try stacking insects  then these are the guys to practice on !
Went out before tea and found these, and took a load of stacked sequences. Had tea and then started processing- all rubbish.
Went back out and they were still there. Did a load more lots and that was at twenty past eight !
These nearly always feed on Knapweed and usually rest on it in the evening and are common.
This is a re work of an earlier shot

Hi John,

I like the comp of this image.   It is wonderful whenever your subjects are cooperative.  Your stacking technique worked out well and you produced a nice image. Well done.......................Jim

Wow, John, what a shot!  Such great detail and color, and the background just makes them stand out so nicely.  I have never seen Burnet Moths in our area.   I am going to have to find something that will stay still long enough to try stacking though.  You and a few others have convinced me that it is an effort worth trying.  Beautiful shot.

Thanks both.
Shirley -the thing I find with the process is that the shots look very different to the small aperture single ones.
The  other important thing is- ---its good fun !!!

Looks great, John.  Terrific detail throughout the subjects (thanks to the stack) against a fine background.  Love those red spots.  Yes, stacking routinely means trashing lots of frames.

This is really nice John. Great stacking technique on animate objects. I love the detail in the weed. BG is very complimentary too.
