Egret Perched

While photographing some Egrets at Assateague NWR in Virginia this month, one of the Egrets decided he would take a break from fishing and land into a tree nearby.  I was shooting on tripod, early morning light, with Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 100-400 mm lens with 1.4 teleconverter, at 300 mm (he was so close to me).  Cropped to 75% for better framing.  Comments and suggestions are welcome.

This looks a lot better in the larger image.  I think the whites are a little hot in a few spots.  But in general, I really like the pose and the composition.  The perch works well and the background allows the bird to stand out well in the image.

The larger version of this is excellent.  Great detail, good choice of composition.  You've got a good combination of a small amount of leaves with the Egret but a good background further away.

A very nice composition and superb detail in the Egret and perch, Shirley. To my eye, the egret seems a bit too yellow even for early morning light.  You might want to play with the white balance or color temperature a bit.  A fine image in any case.

Thank you, David, Barbara and Dennis.  I noticed the feathers too, and just thought it was because of the early morning light.  I went in and worked on the local saturation, etc.  See if this is an improvement.

Very nice image of the egret NOT in the water.
Fine detail and pose.
Hard to tell, but seems from here to need a bit of CCW rotation.

The first post is very nice but the re-work is exceptional, Shirley!  The white balance adjustment and the "cooled" hot spots really made a difference.  An interesting pose and great detail also.  Well done!
