White-crowned Sparrow
by Dennis Plank
This is a juvenile, hence the lack of the white crown. A very fun bird as the juveniles are quite playful and chase one another around the gardens. They also take quickly to the bath. This is one of a group of four that frequent the pool near my blind.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 468 mm, tripod with ballhead and Sidekick, f/8, 1/1000, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1 2/3 EV (set for a chickadee to try to tame that white cheek against a very dark bg). Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to 14 MP before resizing. Taken at 9:35 am on July 22nd under cloudy skies.
Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

5 commentsA really small nit would be a slightly thinner perch but no big deal.

I like the framing, detail and the way the Sparrow stands out from the background.
