Capturing the Moment

I met my friend Kane on the north Rim of the Grand Canyon for a few days this weekend.  We were treated to some golden light Friday evening, so I am glad Kane brought his lucky rabbit's foot.  I had the chance to use the new Sigma 12-24mm f/4 Art.  It was the main lens used this weekend and seemed to be set at 12mm often.  This is one of the first images with it, so further testing will be needed.

Outstanding image, Doug. Fantastic light and the rainbow is a nice bonus. Your friend blends in well, and I think this would make a great image for workshop advertising, but I'd prefer this on my wall without the photographer, if you have it that way. I think this image, as presented here, clearly belongs in the M&N gallery as long as we have that separate gallery.

Scott, thanks for the comments.  The other unknown photographer was down on a little ledge where he could not move about much.  Unfortunately, I do not have any wide shots without him.
Moderators- feel free to move this to M&N if it fits there better.

It's a beautiful image, Doug.  The emphasis on the foreground formations and how they lead to the far rim (and the rainbow) works wonderfully.  Yes, the centered photog carries enough weight for this to be in M&N....sure is a shame it's so hard to get photographers out of our images...sad

Beautiful scene, with beautiful light, and the rainbow is icing on the cake!  Well seen and captured, Doug.

Doug, this has every possible element in it. Person taking a photo, amazing light, stormy sky, rainbow, canyon that goes on forever... and so on... beautiful.  Please forgive the reference here, but this reminds me of David Allan Coe's perfect country and western song.

Thank you Scott, Mark, Ed and Shirley for your comments.  (I moved this to M&N due to the other photographer in the scene.)
Ed - "Please forgive the reference here, but this reminds me of David Allan Coe's perfect country and western song. "  Good song.  Just hoping we too don't get run over by the o'l train.

Wow, what a fabulous capture.  The photographer adds a bit, but he seems to be looking the other direction, which could either represent the vast beauty of the scene or perhaps lead the viewer to look for what this other guy is looking at.  On another note, at first glance, this looked like a poorly composited double pano.  That south rim in the distance is so linesr and level, it played a trick on my eyes.  I can't decide whether it would be better to get the near rim lower or higher than the horizon, or whether that would actually make it too busy.  I like it as presented, so my thoughts are just that...rambling thoughts that can be taken or left ⚡️
