This is a subspecies of Gnu still found in reasonable numbers in Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania.

Ken, there's so much to like about your Brindled Gnu image but let me just mention two things, the beautiful soft morning light that brings out great detail in the gnu's faces and their powerful collective pose. I love it!

Great grouping, lower POV and looming oof tree all make this very special! A touch more room at the top will help.

Great low point of view. Light, as mentioned, is excellent. If you have space, more on left and top would make it stronger, IMO.

It's hard to get them all looking in the photographer's direction but you almost managed
I love the light, colours and setting.

Ken: you've captured a very interesting group pose. This sub species is much more appealing to photograph than the more common gnu, given their various tones and distinctive facial markings.. Tell us more about your processing. Like it! Richard

I could have sworn I left a comment. Anyway I think this is a sensational shot of this group of animals. Interesting low viewpoint, nearly all of them attentive, stunning light and a wonderful out of focus backdrop that includes the full umbrella of that tree. Stunning shot of what might be considered less exciting wildlife.

I like the low perspective. Maybe a small clockwise rotation. Really nice.

Thanks everybody, I really cannot remember how I processed this, just that it was complicated.
