Hi Folks,
It's been a while since I have posted in Flora.  I'll return the favor of feedback over the next week or so.  I appreciate any thoughts you have on this image of a fireweed blossom.

Handheld using Canon 5D3 and 100mm L macro

Marylynne, I love the luscious tones of pink and purple in the fireweed blossom and the angle that you chose to shoot.  You might consider removing the single strand of spider silk from the lower image, but I know that some would prefer leaving it in as it is part of nature.  Very nice!

What were your f-stop, shutter speed and ISO? From the shallow dof, with only the stamens in focus, I would venture to guess you were shooting wide open or close. Good place for using a tripod. Conversely, if that was your intention, you achieved it. But I do think more in focus is desireable.laugh

Thanks Paula and Phil. The Aperture was f/9.  In all honesty, I shot this flower while waiting for a bee to land on the stamens (angel), so in retrospect, the DOF was not optimal for the flower alone.

Marylynne: Wonderful lighting and I like your POF/DOF choice. Well seen, composed and captured.>=))>

Cool, Marylynne.  I've seen bunches of these but never a real close-up like this.  It has a reall interesting sturcture, and I like the soft tones.  I do wish you couldhave isolated a single bloom as the one in the bg seems a bit of a distraction.
