Help me, I'm molting!

The wicked witch of the Pacific Northwest.  After seeing a few juvenile Eastern Towhee's posted by John Tobias, I thought I would add a juvenile Western Spotted Towhee for comparison.  This was taken about a week ago before our current heatwave.

Iso 800, 600 mm, F10, 320th, D 500, tripod, full frame, Topaz and TK actions

Hello David, not familiar with this species. but great to see with excellent detail.

I was thinking maybe slightly over sharpened around the head/eye ?

Thankd for sharing.

Great expression and pose, David.  Wonderful detail in the feathers.  At first, I thought I was seeing some over sharpening, but I think it is fine.  The eye would be showing the sharpening if it was over sharp I think, and to me it looks fine, so it is probably so much detail in the feathers that at first glance it appears over sharpened.  Great shot, and that pose is just too cute.

Superb detail, David.  A very scruffy looking specimen and I love the pose.

Great pose and I like the look it is giving.  The detail looks fine and the background is great.  Our yard is inundated with Towhees, but I haven't spotted any juvies, so thanks for sharing this one.

Thanks for showing the western equivalent. Around Phoenix we only get to see Spotted Towhee in the "winter" months, so again I haven't seen one in juvie plumage. Our year-round towhee is Abert's, but young birds stay hidden.

Terrific image quality in this, and an interesting active pose. Well done.

That's a different look! I like it and the detail is great. I guess you have to show some attitude when you look like that. Nice frame!

Makes me laugh. I like the sharpness and texture of the bird and the moss and tree branch against the solid smooth green background. The toehee is a favorite of mine and seeing this cute little ugly duckling is heart warming. Very nice photo. I like the slanted pose that fills the image frame nicely.
