Juvenile Goldfinches
by Dennis Plank
This year's crop of young Goldfinches started arriving a week or two ago and are now all over the place. While not as bright as the adults, I've always thought they were closer to "gold" than the adult birds. The color balance in this is also a bit affected by the smoke haze from fires in British Columbia.
7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, Tripod with BH-55 and Sidekick, f/8, 1/320, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, -2/3 EV. Processed in LR & PS CC. I took a bit off the right side and added a touch on the top. I also cloned over a couple of stray pieces of vegetation in the lower right corner. I do wish the Crocosmia they're perched on didn't grow with 120 degree branch angles, but you can't argue with genetics. I was amazed that they both were in the plane of focus. Taken yesterday evening at 7:06 pm under smoke filtered sun.
Your comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

5 commentsInteresting perches, but I might consider cloning out the whole OOF one behind the right birdlet.
