In the garden of a chateau in S W France, a little early so waiting for the doors to open I spotted this bee on a flower and thought it worth a quick hand-held shot. A case of in the right place at the right time.
Nikon 885 f/2.8 1/318 sec ISO 100.
Comments welcome and appreciated.

Chris, the square crop fits the flower very well.  The flower petals and center are also nicely sharp and crisp.  The bee is well placed.

Nice close up of this flower and bee, Chris.  I agree with Mark, the square frame works here.

Pretty good shot from a pretty minimal camera. The back of the bee seems slightly out of focus. I believe you have a choice of one other aperture setting, 4.9. You might try it when it seems warranted.

Hi Chris,

Use a smaller aperture to capture sharpness in both flower and insect.  This is a syrphid fly that mimics honey bees.  Overall, I like what you are trying to accomplish.  The fly needs to be sharper so increase the ISO and stop down the aperture.  The comp is very nice and agree with the other reviewers about the square format works well for this scene.........................Jim.

These flies look amazingly like bees, the biggest difference being one pair of wings (flies) vs. two pairs of wings (bees), and a stinger of course. I like the composition here. Other issues have been discussed. Keep em coming Chris.
