Rainfall angle Guage

This Rufous is programmed to sense the perfect angle of the rainfall. Taken last year in May.   Newly processed.  I may have posted similar previously in this or avian...   I had to put in at least one wet bird photo.

iso 100, Sigma 150-600 at 550, f8, 350th, tripod, fill flash at -2,-1 EV,  D800E, 50% crop, Topaz and Tk actions

Nice, David.  All my wet hummer images are old and my older files aren't accessible right now.  The angle of the hummer is perfect and you have beautiful detail in the plumage.

There must be some other NPNers out there who shoot in the rain now and then-I wonder where they are for this one.

Nice! Love how the beak is at the same angle as the water streaks.
Good detail in the bird, bright eye, and lovely flower colours.

Rather than "they went that-a-way", this is a "they're coming from there" pose.  The match between the birds beak and the rainfall angle is great.  It has me wondering if it's part of a strategy to minimize exposed surface area (like what some dragonflies do on sunny hot days to keep cool).  The details in the bird and it's perch look great plus the length of the raindrop streaks works very well.

Beautiful.  Works well for the weekly challenge, though otherwise I'd be tempted to clone out the raindrops to put greater emphasis on the excellent detail in the hummer and the nicely contrasting background.  Well photographed.

Way cool David. A behavior I didn't know about, and super sharp!

Beautiful!  I was wondering the same thing as Mark concerning the angle of the entire bird minimizing exposure to the rain?  Did you see it hold this body position (not necessarily the bill) while it was raining, or was this just a fleeting pose?
