Rainy Bay

Dug this up from a few years ago.  While camping on an Adirondack Lake, I shot this on a dim morning, with some rain gear over the camera in a steady rain.  Could not get the the depth of field I wanted, so I made two shots for focus blending (stacking did not work, due to wind motion).

Canon 50D; Sigma 17-70mm.
0.8 sec. @ f/22; ISO 200 (would have used much higher ISO with today's cameras)

I like the framing with the water droplets on the pine needles.

Wayne, the emphasis on the wet foreground branches and needles does a fine job of telling the story.  There's an inviting quietness in the expanse of blue water with the distant shore fading a bit in the rain.  Having the distant peninsula peek through the gap in the branches is a nice touch.

I like this a lot, Wayne.  The foreground needles with all the drops do a wonderful job of framing the scene and the rain on the lake really comes through well in the larger image.  This would really look great printed large.

I like this.  The water droplets on the needles remind me of stars.  Very relaxing, soothing photo.  Perfect for decorating one's retreat.
