Lake Neuchatel, Switzerland
D810     300mm   f2.8  G ED VR2  x  tc 1.4 series 3
f/9  ISO 800   1/500s    EV 0.3   WBA    Center Weighted   Handheld
Active D–Lighting  Normal     Brilliant sunshine
RAW image,  43% full frame.   Photoshop CS6

Here is another shot of my Cormorant. Being backlit, the subject created a number of technical problems – in retrospect for this shot I should have increased the EV, decreased the ISO and increased Active D–Lighting. Those legs, feet and under parts were very under exposed. Perhaps the feet aren’t size 15 – I’m jealous, having only size 11s and no webs!

Nice job bringing the darker areas up, David.  I like the pose and detail in the cormorant is excellent.  I'm not familiar with the Active-D term.  Is that a Nikon thing?

I like this pose the best, David.  When possible, I like having all of the critter in the image, unless I am purposely trying to do maybe a head shot.  He does have size 15 feet!  I like that you included the rocks he is standing on as well, as it gives me a better feel for the environment he is located in.  His head turned is a plus, in my opinion.
