Special Moment

Grizzly Bear  & Cub  .... Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary in Northern BC Canada. Mom was comfortable with our presence and resting when junior came up to interrupt her. The cub was purring and seemed to be asking mom something. Shortly after this capture mom moved to a large boulder and rested back on it , like a chair and let the cub nurse .

Taken from a floating Zodiac boat, hand held, Nikon 200-400 VR F4 lens, taken @ 300mm, F8, 1/800, ISO 1800, handheld, -.67 meter compensation, Slight crop,  PS6 NR applied.

Comments appreciated.

Bill, this is nice.  I like the choice of a tight crop, not only to emphasize the intimacy, but because the sow's diagonal pose really feels like it should dominate the frame.

Beautiful, intimate moment Bill. Momma looks a bit tired and yet, she made the time to take care of junior. Sweet. Those claws are a great reminder of her fierce ability to take care of business too.

Bill,
A special moment indeed!
I might have prefered the cubs ears to be complete

Hello MAX, Thanks. While shooting this I was already too close & my 200-400 lens was backed off as far as possible. Using the Nikon D500 with Crop sensor was too much lens, but did the best I  could @ 300mm.

Ed, Andrew, Nishand, Ken ,....Yes those Claws are intimidating.

Such a sweet, tender moment amid all those fierce looking claws. I'm sure many nursing mothers can identify with that tired look the Mama bear has on her face. Great shot!

It is a special moment indeed. I just love the detail in fur and claws! I too, like Ken. would like to see complete ears.

Hello  Kathy,... Looks can be deceiving ... looking tired, and cuddly but those impressive claws could be an imposing defense against any unwanted visitors!

Jagdeep,... As mentioned I was too close with my equipment and ears were my choice to cut off, rather than the claws etc..
Thanks for the feedback.
