Pied Lapwings

Brazil's Pantanal was a great place to photograph jaguars and other mammals, but it has its share of nice birdlife as well.  Late one afternoon, we neared a sandy beach where a couple of Pied lapwings (aka, Pied plovers) were strutting their stuff.  It was my first time seeing this handsome species.

Wow! What a magnificent image. Not even a nit. Just right on. Surprised there are not a bunch of positive comments.

Beautiful light, Max and I like the inclusionof the oof bird in te bg-it's blurred just right to add rather than detract from the image.

I'd love to see tih species some day. Terrific light, and nice strut.

Interesting to include the OOF second bird as you have here.

Thanks, everyone.  I did get some shots of a single bird (probably at a better angle, truly at eye level), but I did like the mirrored pose of the second bird in this and a couple other images from this sequence.

Max: the two birds make a striking diagonal. Having one in sharp focus and the other oof, draws the eye to the sharply focused bird even more. Frameworthy. Richard

Hi Max
I like the fact that both Lapwings are almost in step.  Nice work.

I like this image a lot Max.  The red legs contrast so well with the other colors.  I think that is what makes the image so striking.  The light in the shadows are really good and I agree that the diagonal mirroring makes this a lot more interesting than a single bird image.
