Capybara Family

I did not really expect capybaras to provide one of the photo highlights of my Brazil trip, but this moment ranked pretty high up there when it was over.  The world's largest rodent is usually seen lounging on shore or swimming--something they excel at--between riverbanks.  They're typically not terribly exciting unless a jaguar is chasing them.

This was too good to pass up though.  First thing in the morning we were cruising the river and passed this mother and her brood of "babybaras," which are much cuter than they have any right to be, so I asked our captain to turn the boat around.  A combination of lovely morning light and a steep bank that limited where the pups could go made for a couple nice family photos.

Really like this shot. Love the diagonal line formed by the bank and the little ones. Well done.

Gads, those little ones are cute.  Great warm light and active scene.
