Mississippi Kite

Like Jerry Austin's place there were a lot of these guys around my neighborhood this summer and I spent a little time photographing them.  They would usually perch on the telephone wires which went above my street.  I liked the pose on this one.

I have been mostly offline the past week or two, everyone in our subdivision had to evacuate with Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area.  We have now returned home and things are almost back to normal, a little bit of damage but we got off easy compared to many in the Houston area.  I haven't seen the Mississippi Kites since the hurricane so I am hoping they evacuated safely as well (likely to South America).

I love it when they bank with the tail flared like this. They are so much fun to watch. Glad you escaped the hurricane relatively unscathed. A lot of people were not quite as fortunate.

Very nice flight image you managed here Nate. I am glad you;re doing okay after the hurricane. Sounds like your family is safe and that is what matters most. But also hope the damage isn't too severe to your property.

The large image shows off the detail well especially in the shaded areas.  Your camera does a good job with the lack of noise in those shaded areas.

Wonderfully noise-free and great detail.  The wing position is great.  I'm glad you're relatively okay after Harvey.
