It was a nice peaceful morning at Tern Lake on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.

Harley,

Quite moody and dramatic with  the high contrast.  This is an unfortunate example of how the smaller original isn't displaying well in terms of shadow detail, but the larger view certainly opens up and I'm sure closer to your wishes.

I'd say almost a departure for you - at least I'm wondering why not b&w? the contrast, graphics and clouds seem to set up well for that.  I'll take a wild guess though that you like the blues of the sky and reflection basically providing the only color.  That's what I like about this color version, aside from the great clouds, low-hanging fog and the reflection.

The only suggestion I have since this is in color might be to open up the shadows?  That may not be your intent though. As presented this is a wonderful reflection image with some dramatic flare.

Harley, while I think this would look nice in B&W, I really like this color version. The blue sky and reflection set the mood, along with the low-hanging cloud deck. The processing looks great to my eye, and as Lon said, the large version really opens up the detail. There is a sense of quietude here that I find very appealing.

Harley, the larger version is very nice. I think the clouds get real "character" in that version with regard to strong detail and excellent edges. That of course is shared better in the reflections then too.
Interesting to see the fog this late in summer up there. Although I visited this area once I have little recall compared to my days in the interior areas of the state. No thoughts or ideas for change here for me......looks good as is.....laugh

This is stunning Harley...... the light, the contrast, the drama, and especially the mood.

I've never been able to drive by this spot without pulling over and shooting. There are often a few white swans at had that invite you to more pictures. I don't know exactly your intention but I would try to pull some detail from those shadows.

A very reflective scene.  I can hear the birds calling.  Hanging this should bring back good memories for a long time.

Very dramatic, high contrast image. This works well as-is but like others it seems like a natural for B&W treatment. I'm guessing you tried that conversion and preferred color? Framing looks spot-on but I think I would prefer the midtones opened up just a touch to reveal a bit of shadow detail.

I'll agree with a lot of the above Harley. This has wonderful drama and mood. The fact that you caught the low clouds with such a bright scene above is eye-catching. I also find the almost monochrome of the blue and silhouetting of the land to be intruiging.

A bold and beautiful photograph. Strong lines, great weather conditions and a bold and artistic rendition.

I am enjoying this one very much, Harley.
