Belted Kingfisher

I was watching three Belted Kingfishers flying back-and-forth over a 100 yard course between two evergreen trees yesterday for about an hour.  This was on Henderson Inlet in the Puget Sound region.  They seemed to be playing although on a couple of occasions they actually went fishing.  They are fascinating birds to observe.  These images were shot with a Nikon D 850 that I borrowed for a day.  This particular shot is cropped to 30% of full frame.  But the nicest feature I would say on this camera is the silent electronic shutter which can only be used in live view.  Not a sound.

Iso 1250, Nikon 200-500 at 500 mm, F8, 2500th, handheld, D 850, 30% of full frame, Topaz adjust, Topaz De noise, TK sharpening action

Nice one, David.  Excellent job tracking one of these fast flyers and the reflection in the quiet water is really cool.  Thinking about upgrading to the 850?

David, this is exceptional for a BIF image, particularly the detail of the bird so hard ro follow and the beautiful watery environment. Thanks for sharing!
