Balloon Eclipse

This year at the Midwest Balloon Fest the wind blew the balloons toward the sun. This one went right in front of the sun. We have a lot of smoke from the western fires, thus the very red/orange sky. I had the aperture set at f22 trying to get sun stars in picture with some of the other balloons and did not think to change it. Thanks for your comments and critiques.

Really great title for a shot and "eclipse" is precisely what I thought the instant I opened the image and before I read the title.  I think you may have over recovered the details of the balloon as it is showing a bit too much noise re the balloon especially for an ISO160 image and some camera movement is evident.  I would guess a larger aperture at the expense of producing a sunstar (though not evident here), or a higher ISO would have been perfect without incurring additional noise.  Then again I would sooner capture the moment than worry unduly about technical issues.

Did that eclipse cause traffic jams like the other one? I got caught in a 3 hour backup due to the crowds (for the other one, that is). sad  I like this a lot, Richard. Great colors in the sky and very dramatic scene.

Richard: the uniqueness of the position of the balloon against the sun and the uniformity of the color scheme makes this a standout. Richard
