Red Dahlia

Made this image at Jim's Dahlia Farm this morning. Playing with a lens I haven't used much the Nikon 35mm f1.8. It's a very sharp lens...good color rendering but the build quality is poor but for $250 I'm not expecting much there. Overall a decent value. cloudy and not much breeze...perfect weather for shooting flowers. Thanks for looking...

basic gear and image data:
Nikon D7000 on tripod
Nikon 35mm f1.8
Singh Ray Warming Polarizer
Manual Focus
1/200 sec.
ISO 100
f1.8

Lots to like here, Bruce. I'm surprised by so much DOF at f1.8. Maybe you meant f8? Good stuff.

No Bill f1.8 was the setting but it's a significant crop so there wasn't much in focus beyond the chosen edges. Yeah not a true macro I suppose but it still turned out decent I think although probably wouldn't make a print of any real size. Thank you all for the generous comments.

Congratulations, Bruce.  I missed this one because I was out of time at the time, but it is an excellent shot.
