Pile of Baby Bugs

Gallery: Weekly ChallengePosted September 24, 2017153 views6 comments

I thought this one fits as being a busy composition. These are baby large milkweed bugs and they band together for protection. Enjoy. K5 IIs 180 mm f3.5 (1/4 sec at f18, Iso 320) Levels, saturation reduced in cyan and magenta. Slight reduction in exposure. Please view the large image...........................Jim

I was watching a "crew" just like this a week ago, Jim, and wondering about the clustering. These colorful bugs make a fun subject. You've done a great job here, with dof keeping almost all of them nicely sharp. The rugged "terrain" that they're on is a neat addition.

Jim, I can hear the casting call now from a movie set. OK everyone, make like a crowd....... sad

At least these guys are outside and not a herd of bed bugs in a collective gathering mode. An excellent close up and well processed too...... laugh

I love bugs! Very cool shot. Are they on a spent magnolia?

A lot of interesting shades of red and green in this image. Good depth of field. The bugs provide an interesting shape in contrast to the surface they are gathered upon. Nice textures and contrast. Well seen.

Nice aggregation Jim. Must look too big to handle for predators. Nice color, great detail, really great DOF.
