Capitol Gorge Layers

Here's another from Cap Reef in 2014, shot in a more open area of the gorge. We all know that landscape at mid-day is problematic, but can be more forgiving with canyon surroundings. I was attracted to the bright greens against the varnished wall as the sun briefly came out for a couple of frames. It was breezy and I lost some detail in the foliage but didn't bother to do any sharpening in post. Slight crop to eliminate a bit of the roadway.

The various shades of green really pop nicely against the red rock. It layers quite well. Nice take on that canyon.

Love the colors and the layering structure, Bill. I like this kind of image because I enjoy exploring every little details and shapes. Maybe the green is too bright? Just a minor issue. Very nice image!

I love the layers of differing green hue leading into the warm reds of the canyon wall. You did good job handling the challenging light.

Bill, This is a nice image and I like how you composed it. I think the foreground is just a bit bright and that it would have more impact if it was toned down a little. The color is probably ok but less exposure and highlights might be worth a try. cool

As everyone mentions, this really pops, A 16X9 crop with almost thirds would look nice for me...

Bill, I like the composition here. I like the contrast between the trees and red rock, with the little bit of sage and grasses on the bottom, but I agree with those that have said the trees are just a bit too bright.

I like the layers and colors.  The greens seem a bit hot, but I'm sure it's hard to deal with them in this sunlit situation.

Appreciate the comments, gang. I wondered about the brightness too. I have another a little darker greens which works a little better.
