BBQ Venison

This doe had two fawns, one behind the fence and one that she drove away from the BBQ grills, at our inn in downtown Waterton, Alberta. She seemed to be enjoying the grease drippings, or something on the base of the BBQ?  She didn't even flinch when I got my camera and started taking a few shots from the doorway of our room just thirty feet away.  Eventually, the fawn she drove away from the grills found its way back through the trees to the grassy lawn on the other side.  She just kept licking for at least ten or fifteen minutes, even after we drove the car out within fifteen feet of her. Canon 5Diii, f11, 1/60 sec, iso 400, -0.7 EV, 100-400 ISL with 1.4 TC, at 560 mm.  Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

Hi Ed,

There must be some salt in the grease which deer seem to need for their diet.  The head is slightly less sharper than the neck or support post of the grill. I like the motion in the tongue and a wonderful shot of her cleaning your grill.  My grill needs a little cleaning so you can send her my way.  Thank you for posting.....................Jim
