I have a few more shots to come from the Mad River. This one upstream a bit rom the last. There are a bunch of deep pools and waterfalls here, and if you come later in the day, lots of people are swimming and jumping off the rocks.

5d2, 24-105L @ 65mm
Blend of 3 exposures:
1.3s @ f/8, ISO100, -1EV in ACR for the base
Same as above, 0EV to brighten the darkest areas of rock
0.3s @ f/8, ISO100, to darken the rocks on the right, which were significantly brighter than those on the left.

Beautiful, Craig. Great depth, with the far cascade leading eventually to the pool and the fore rocks. Nice colors, too. I like it!!

This is a great view of this strecth of river, Craig.  The two pools and the falls in between look great.  I do like the blue tones in the lower pool.  How nice that you could get there early and avoid the crowds.  I think that some dodging of the rocks would be nice.  The ones in the upper left seem especially foreboding to me, but that may be the effect you were looking for.

Awesome image, Craig.  This may be my favorite image of yours.  The light is sweet, the comp is spot on, and the processing is beautifully done.  My only suggestion would be to lighten the shadows on the left side a bit.  Really well done.

Thanks all for the comments. Mark and Gary, I agree with your assessment that those left side rocks were too dark originally, so here's a re-worked image.

Craig,

This is both fascinating and beautiful!  I love the subtle contrast in color between the grays/browns of the rock and the blue/green of the water.

Agree with Harley on the depth and the others about the dodging. So great job on the repost. Amazing how minor and subtle changes can really improve an image.

Love this.

This one is really nice too, and I like the extra depth.
