Another Sanderling from Padre Island National Seashore. There were a lot of them around and I took bunches of images. Reviewing them, I liked this high key one with just hints of relief in the wet sand, so I kept the bird as small in the frame as I thought reasonable.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 435 mm, hand held, f/7.1, 1/1250, iso 640, manual exposure. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to 13.4 MP before resizing. Topaz detail on the bird. Taken at 8:46 am on April 13th, 2017.

I like the mood of this image. It also looks elegant to me. I completely agree about the hints of relief in the sand, but I might consider cropping this just above the very bottom darker part and whatever cropping then seemed appropriate from the right.

For me this composition works very well, Dennis. I do like the hint of the surroundings and the small bird in this wide set-up. Well seen and executed cool

Now that's what I call taking negative space to the max. Good example of a "less is more" presentation, and the soothing soft light works well.
