I liked this for the contrasting colors and having the bird in its environment.  The pine seed in its open mouth was a nice bonus.

Thanks for looking.  Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Very nice setting and composition. Nice natural color and overall look. In the large version there's a lack of detail in the bird's feathers - did you use noise reduction on this?

I like the way the pine needles frame the Nutcracker, Allen, and you caught a wonderful moment of action.  A beautiful image, though I agree with Richard about the lack of plumage detail.

Richard and Dennis,

Thanks for the comments.  I used +30 NR in LR.  Here's a re-post with no NR on the bird.  It is probably a bit better, but there still is feather detail lacking.  For me, the background, colors, and habitat outweighed the lack of detail.

Plumage detail is actually a lot better in the repost, Allen.  Well done.

Nice action shot, Allan ! I like the repost a bit better as well. Interesting species - only saw it once, in Utah. Nice overall setting in this image. Cheers, Hans

Good job in getting this on a pine tree.  The background really makes this work nicely.  The color is just terrific.  Even though I live in a wooded area, not enough pine trees to attract them and I am at too low of an altitude.

One of my favorite birds Allen. I love that you caught it with a seed in its mouth. I also really like the detailed pine cone and needles with a very nice soft BG.
