Excellent capture, Richard!  The detail in the feathers are really good.  Nice background too.

Certainly more conventional than the last one, Richard.  I like this one as well.  Excellent detail in the hummer and I like the curved perch and nearly head-on pose.

Very pretty.  Never seen this one before.  I almost said, "X marks the spot", but I realized, that the marking is almost a swastika frown  Yikes.....amazing....  He, also, has kind of a scary intense look on his face....I don't think, he likes his picture taken!sad

Real nice pose and detail.  I like the curved perch.  The background is nice, though one small nit would be the dark spot on the right which tends to draw the eye.

A pleasing image with notable details, light, BG, and perch.  D300 was a superb Nikon and the 300 2.8 is one of the sharpest lenses.  I always have concerns about image quality with extenders especially the TC-20E.  I have both that extender and the 300 but find I have stopped using the extender because of IQ issues.  I realize that sometimes one has no choice.

I agree. The D300 was excellent, and it took my a long time to retire the pair of them that I had. And the 300/2.8  is simply awesome - I relied on it from a new purchase in 1998 until last year. It had so much resolution that what was lost with the TC-20E was barely noticeable with the lower MP bodies like the D70 and D200. But when I replaced the pair of D300's with a pair of D7200's and 24MP I was no longer satisfied with the resolution loss of the 2x. So I went with thre Nikkon 200-500 and am now satisfied with the IQ once again.
