Cypress Scene

LARGE VERSION AVAILABLE.

Thank you for the comments on my past few posts.  I appreciate your suggestions and critiques!

I love cypress trees; they just have a certain love, texture, and color that appeals to me so much.  I also love the swamps in which they thrive.  This was captured on Eglin Reservation in northwest Florida, about 30 minutes from my house.

Comments, critiques, and suggestions welcomed.  Thanks for looking.

Well seen, Bill (sorry, couldn't resist the pun...)  It's a great swamp scene with the emphasis on the greens of the front row of trees and their contrast with the gray trunks.  The bit of reflection is a fine inclusion.

Really well composed image, Bill. I like how you include a little bit of reflection and the greens which really stand out over the grey trunks.

Bill,

Love this one.  This appears to be a perfect focal length for this scene.  We all know how busy and chaotic these places can be (reference my comments on previous post,) but you've managed to capture and present in a way that makes it whole, rather than a combination of randomness.

There's so much to enjoy with this scene and capture.  The green boughs around the frame are wonderful, as is the single patch of reddish-brown near the center (great focal point.)  The reflection works as well and I particularly like the horizontal fall log.  Everything put together nicely.

From the large view, I might be tempted to drop the mids and brights ever so slightly. But that's very minor and personal choice.
Colors look great too.

Well seen!

Lon

Sweet swamp scene. I like Lon's idea to bring the values down a bit and I would bring the magenta way down. I am seeing it heavy in the tree trunks.

This is really nice.  There's a lot to look at but it's not too busy and I like how the green stands out against the trunks and branches.

Wonderful color in the cypress, Bill. They are my favorite trees, and pretty in all seasons.

I like the composition of this image. I lived in southern Louisiana for a few years and this image beings back a lot of memories. This is a nice composition from what could be a very chaotic.

Beautiful work, Bill. The fine branches are almost like lace. The horizontal green branches scattered around the canvas give a sense of peace. But then the log at the bottom alerts you. I'm wondering if an overall cool tone to the image would further that feeling. I would be nice to not have that bit of sky peaking through but I wouldn't crop anything. Bringing down the values might be tricky because some areas don't need it. It's a wonderful image as is. These are things to try as options.

Excellent, Bill.  Just about as good as it gets.  Love the arc of edge of shore and how the downed tree and it's reflection tie the best of the cypress together.  No nits from me......I love it.

Nice image, Bill. The swamp Cypress are a very photogenic subject...love the layered leaf and branch patterns. I like the deadfall and the gnarled branches crashing in on the left side too...nicely composed and balance.

Bill, This is an outstanding shot to me. I really like this comp and love the mood it has. Just enough water to show some wonderful reflections and I like all the fine branches and details. Nice work!
