Great image! Nice focus ... love the blurred background. Good composition not much I can suggest for improvement. Keep up the good work

Nice wing spread and detail.  Needs to be rotated clockwise.  A little too centered and tight  for my taste.  As for being in this gallery, I do not agree.  Should be in avian.  Fence posts are so blurred they are not distinguishable.  Many NWRs have hands of man and yet these images are posted in avian and are far more obvious than this.  What about barbed wire perches and other HOM perches?

What a beautiful shot, Sandy!  Love the colors of this bird, and everything on him seems tact sharp.  I agree with David that it appears to need rotating, although I know sometimes it can be the angle we were shooting at with the water's edge that can give it that appearance, I still think it would make the image more appealing.  If you do, it will be automatically cropping some of the image, so I would try to take it from the right side and bottom, I think.  It really is an excellent in flight shot.

David, to my eyes, the bird and the top line of  brown bushes are level. The water is a bay, and  the waterline is not level naturally. Rotating the frame  to the right would put the bird pointing UP,  which he was not.
It's often not just one frame of reference to decide where "level" is.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Sandy

I would love to have taken this photo!   I would not change anything, except to put it in the Avian gallery.  One of the better avocet photos I have seen.  Thanks for sharing.

Excellent flight pose.  Exposure looks just right.  Love the fanned tail and the eye contact.
