Enjoying the Beach

I took this shot at Assateague Island, VA a couple of weeks ago while visiting up there.  Jose was in the area off coast and causing the waves to really be rough.  Taken handheld with Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 100-400 mm L lens at 400 mm, f6.7, 1/1500, ISO 500.  Cropped to 88% of original image.  I realize it is "just a seagull" but I really liked the background of the ocean, and his regal pose.  Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

I like the background and pose as well here Shirley, I would crop a little bit more from the bottom to remove some of the out of focus sand and then just a touch more from the left to balance it.  devil

A really nice low angle, Shirley.  I like the bg and the detail looks very good.  You might take a bit off the bottom to remove most of the oof foreground sand.

A nicely composed image of the seagull on the sand.  Good detail in the plumage and on the foreground sand.  The crop suggestions from Nate and Dennis are reasonable.  On my monitor which was recently calibrated, I do see a bit of a blue cast on the white plumage and some of the white sand specs.

Thank you all for your suggestions.  I have tried to make them, and I do like the crop.  But, I couldn't see what you saw David, on the color cast, but did try to let Lightroom 6 remove it, and and it didn't seem to do anything.  Let me know what you think, it might have done something and I just can't see it.

I happen to like seagulls and this is a good shot of one, Shirley!  Good focus, classic composition  and enough information in the background to tell it's on the beach which adds some nice context.  I see the same blue cast that David saw and it appears that it may have been later in the day with somewhat low lighting which typically results in blue tints.  If you just turn down the blue channel a bit it would warm up nicely.
