Wonderland

This is a great little bog in the Wonderland area of Acadia National Park. It's not much of a tourist attraction, which is great because it's less strain on the delicate eco-system. There are sort of natural walkways you can follow to minimize damage.

Michael,

What a wonderful mix of reds and greens; I think beautifully balanced.  There's a good sense of depth here created by including both the grasses at the bottom and the distant forest up top.  The grasses, are almost a tweaner though.... You've included enough to know that you included them on purpose (or at least knew they were in frame.)  Any less of the grass I would probably want to get rid of all toghether.  But for me, I think there is enough to add to the image, rather than detract.

Processing looks good, although I might be inclined to drop the exposure levels by 1/3-1/2 stop and/or play with the contrast a little. Not so much you alter the delicate mood here, but just tweaking a little.

I also like this someone isolated, intimate selection from the much broader scene.

I agree, it is a wonderful mix of red and greens. This comp works really well I think and even a bit more foreground grass would be ok, but fine as is. I also like the background trees in this.

This is beautiful, Michael.  The reds and greens compliment one another nicely and the composition is well done.  This looks like a beautiful location to explore!

Thanks for the comments. Lon and NIck, regarding the FG grasses, this is actually a crop of a vertical that I did, included here.

I like this a lot Michael.  The explosion of reds and greens across the frame is quite  striking.  The grasses don't bother me and I wonder about a crop of the original that contains half of that grass clump only as an alternative.  In your original post there are a couple of eye grabbers that I would clone.  The silvery branch exiting the frame 1/3 from the bottom right, and the few white blobs (I'm guessing tent worms of some kind), and a touch of sky top right.  Beautiful image.

Beautiful painterly scene!!! The exposure works for me. I like the way it is bright in the fore and fades in exposure. Nice effect. The foreground grasses don't bother me, but I might burn them down a bit? Very minor, sweet work!

I am surprised this has so few comments as this is gorgeous, Mike. This woodland scene has a wonderful mix of red and green colors. Nice job on this. I hope I have one this nice.
