Common Yellowthroat

I posted another image or two of this bird last spring, but finally got around to processing this pose in a nice classic habitat.  It's a bit more of a crop than the other posts, but I think it held up quite nicely for web presentation.

7Dii, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, hand held braced on boardwalk rail, f/7.1, 1/200, iso 1250, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR & PS CC.  Cropped to 6.4 MP before resizing for the web.  Taken at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, TX at 8:34 am on March 25th.  Judging by the initial white balance and exposure, I had cloudy skies at that time.

Your comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Dennis
I like the head turn and coloring.  I am glad you got around to posting this shot.

Very sweet light and pose, Dennis. It seems that a 6.4 MP crop from 20 made it a bit soft unfortunately, but understandable at 1/200.

I like this shot and the pose,  Dennis.  I have to look real closely to see if it's soft.  Perhaps the point of focus is the breast, rather than the eye.  But it is difficult to see because of the contrast in the black area.  When I first saw this I thought perhaps you had taken it locally.

Nice pose by this little warbler in typical habitat.  The eye shows well through the black mask, something not possible under many light conditions.

I love all the verticals in this Dennis. I saw a few of these last spring (first time) but wasn't able to get a clean shot. They are very cool birds and I hope to run across them again sometime. You did very well with this one! Nice detail in the eye considering the black mask.

Nice! Great pose, bright eye, fine detail and colours, and an interesting habitat.
