Shades of Brown

I had a fun few hours wandering among the foxtail pine trees up at Horseshoe Meadow in the eastern Sierra.

D810, 70-200mm, blend of a few images for DofF.

No thoughts for change here from me, Harley. Looks to be dead on......Textures, color, etc. are all nicely presented. I especially like how you framed this with the center looking a bit like a flower petal about to open......laugh

I love the browns in this image and the grey/brown combination complement one another nicely. There is an interesting flow to this image where the folds merge and overlay one another. I have rotated the image every which way and all seem to work for me, each one providing a different sense. One of the horizontal rotations (ccw) results in an image that can be interpreted as land, mountain (grey), and sky (with a bit of cropping). Beautiful work.

Nice image, Harley. Great lines, textures and tones. Love how the central portion curves up to a delicate point like a flower. I have one complaint. Your larger image is not bib enough. I want to see it "Big".crying

From the thumbnail, I thought this was some sort of waterfall.   Brilliant look at the weathering flow of this old pine.  I might entertain cloning the dark hole mid frame left.  Not a big issue, just something that grabs my eye.   Nicely done Harley.

Mr. H.,

Ahhh, it's warming to know there are more than just a couple tree bark afficianados here.... this is right up my alley, and wonderful! Wish I had found this!  It's not just the lines, color and fine detail, but it's the form, the sensuous shapes that really make this stand out.  There are most certainly some crops and alternates as Igor was mentioning and I see one crop that removes the dark intersecting triangle up top.  But that's an alternate, not better than the original, just different.  But I'm totally enjoying this as presented,  Great job seeing and crafting this one Harley!

Only 2 little nits.  One is cloning out that oversized dust bunny (or natural tree thing) near the middle, left side. Not a big deal, but pulls my eye a bit.  Secondly, brown?  Ok, shades, sure... but I see cinnamon, bronze, lavendar, gold, tangerine... what a beautiful collection of tones and hues throughout.  Great job with this one!

Harley, as has been said, this has really great flow to it. I could see cloning that dark spot that Lon mentioned, but nothing else to critique here, this is great!

A lovely warm look at this tree with a fine twist, Harley.  Makes me wish I was a squirrel and could follow that twist around to see what's back there.

This is real nice, Harley. The sensuous curves nad wonderful texture and color all work together for a fine image.

I agree with Lon about cloning out that small spot near the left edge. Other than that minor nit, this looks wonderful.

I am thoroughly enjoying the different shades of earth tones and details in this beauty, Harley. I really like the two directions of diagonal flows in this scene. Beautifully done.

Well seen, Harley. Great textures and tones. Has almost a sensual quality. Framing and processing look great to me.

You have a great eye for seeing these tree bark abstracts.  The lines and textures work well here and I like the lighter brown tone sandwiched in between the more golden color on either the right or left.
