Fading Light of Fall

I wanted to take one of my recent photos from the eastern Sierras and turn it into a dark, brooding scene. I did this with a texture and lots of fussing around. I'm eager for feedback on this, as I know it is different. Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques.

I, too, like this. Very well done. Reminds me of paintings I have seen in museums; not sure which, but have seen some very similar in color, texture and overall appearance but not with the 50/50 vertical split. Perhaps some off bottom or top.

Beautiful.  The fall colors in the trees really pop.  Your processing turned your photo into a painting.  Very nice.

Yes, this has great warmth and texture. I'd like to see the original too. The 50/50 splint seems to be best since I wouldn't want to lose the  top of the reflected tree.

Kathy, I like the look you got here, like some of the old masters paintings.

This looks like a beautiful fall painting. You accomplished you purpose. I could see it framed large and hung on a wall.

Kathy,

Impressionism at its finest!  This is outstanding!  I'd have to disagree though that this is dark and brooding.  Yes, the exposure/presentation is on the darker side, but I don't get brooding at all.  I just see like an  early 20th century impressionistic painting.  this is wonderful.

I wouldn't call this a nit, but I might burn down the reflection a smidge in the LL just to kinda match the tonality of the rest of the frame. But that's just me.

Excellent!

Hi Kathy

Congratulations on the WP!  This is just a grand masterpiece!  Belongs on a wall.  I just love textures when applied with a deft touch and you have achieved that here.

Best
