It's nice to see an image of this type of bark. I, personally, find it more emotional than the swirly images. I would drop the exposure a fair amount and probably adjust the color balance towards blue or green. As far as technical advice - I would clone that brown wedge at right center frame to be like the moss next to it.

Ronald,

Great title!  More tree bark - gotta love it. Great detail here and I like the inclusion of the bits of green to add to all the other variation of earth tones.  Agree with Igor on a couple points.  You could drop the levels down, maybe 1/2 stop?  or selectively burning down some of the brighter areas.  I also think there is room to tighten this up.  I noticed the URC is a little soft.  I think by cropping in from the right you can eliminate the soft corner and if you come in far enough remove the brown triangle (cloning that area can work too.) But in cropping some off the right, I'd come up from the bottom too.  But, I understand the difficulties in cropping this kinds of images. You crop here, and creates a new issue over there...

Maybe I'm seeing things, but I think maybe there is some magenta that could be pulled down. But that's getting picky.

Great job isolating this section of the tree.

There is interesting shape, color and texture in this abstract.  There are just enough vertical lines in the bark to give structure to the composition.  Nicely done!
