Salmon Catch

One of my goals for this trip was to catch a Spirit Bear with a salmon in his mouth. While I witnessed many salmon catches by many bears, capturing an image with the fish and the bear's face visible at the same time proved challenging. More often than not, after catching a salmon, the bears turned away from me. Also, in order to get a high shutter speed to freeze the action,  a high ISO was needed. It was always a battle between shutter speed and ISO. This was one of my better attempts. I like the fact that the fish is prominent. I also like the way the water is cascading off the fish. Processed with Lightroom, Photoshop and Lightzone. Comments and critiques welcome.

I think you met your goal very well!  The larger image is full of details, and the colors seem to be right on.  I do think you could have cropped this a bit tighter on the face and fish, but fine as it is.  Have enjoyed this series of bear photos.  Thanks for sharing.

Jerry: Goals met! This is an excellent photo showing behavior and has captured great detail as well. The cascading water coming off the fish is a big plus. This deserves to be hung large. Richard

I like this one best in your bear series I think. Although the shaker was also amazing. You definitely captured this very well. Great detail. Great lighting.

I like the sense of expression in the eyes of both the fish and the spirit bear.
