Here's another shot from South Africa, Addo Elephant National Park.  The F18 was the result of there being 2 birds at first and me trying to get both in focus but one flew off and I continuted shooting, the background was so far away that it worked out fine in this case.

Very nicely processed with good detail in both blacks and whites. Love that buttery background!

A fine sharp image of this little guy, Nate, and good choice of f18 to get all the perch in focus, too.

f/18 worked out just fine, Nate.  Excellent detail and a very nice pose.  You might do something about the two partial oof leaves at the bottom below the bird.

Lovely image, Nate - love the colors complementing the bird. Haven't seen them while there in 2010. By coincidence I gave a lecture yesterday on South-Africa including Addo. Tried to squeeze in a few birds, but people got all excied over the.. Elephants enlightened. Anyway, you have a great shot on your hands ! Cheers, Hans

Yeah I'm impressed that the background is so soft at F-18.  This is a really nice shot of the sparrow with a really cool perch and perfect exposure on what appears to be a difficult lighting situation.  Really nice work Nate.

I love that look that the Sparrow is giving you.  The background worked out really well, and I really like the small green leaves and what they add to the image.
